Lindsay Allason-Jones
Lindsay Allason-Jones (OBE, BA, MLitt, FSA, FSAScot, FMA, FRSA) was Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Artefact Studies and Reader in Roman Material Culture at Newcastle University until she retired in 2011. She was previously Director of Archaeological Museums for the University and is now one of its Honorary Visiting Fellows. An acknowledged authority on artefacts, particularly those from Hadrian’s Wall, Roman Britain and Roman and Medieval Sudan, she is the author of nearly 200 papers and fourteen books, including Women in Roman Britain and Daily Life in Roman Britain. Her latest book was published in 2022: Corpus Signorum Imperii Romani Vol. I, Fasc. 11 The Hinterland of Hadrian’s Wall and Derbyshire. She has twice been President of the Royal Archaeological Institute.
