Dr. Kathleen Coleman
Kathleen Coleman is the James Loeb Professor of the Classics at Harvard University. She is originally from Zimbabwe. Before coming to Harvard, she taught at the University of Cape Town and Trinity College Dublin. Her specialties include: Latin literature under the Flavian emperors and Trajan; Roman social history, especially spectacle and punishment; Roman material culture, especially mosaics; and the reception of classical antiquity by Douglas Livingstone, a South African poet. She is the author of commentaries on Statius, Siluae IV (1988) and Martial, Liber Spectaculorum (2006); editor of Le jardin dans l’Antiquité (2014), Images for Classicists (2015), and Albert’s Anthology (2017); and co-editor of F. R. D. Goodyear: Papers on Latin Literature(1992) and L’Organisation des spectacles dans le monde romain (2012).
