Dr. Jackson Crawford
Jackson Crawford shares real expertise in Norse language and myth with people hungry to learn, free of both ivory tower elitism and the agendas of self-appointed gurus.
With his Youtube channel dedicated to answering all the most frequently asked questions about Old Norse language and mythology, and his bestselling translations of the most important surviving sources of Norse myth, he’s making up-to-date, accurate information about these topics more accessible than ever before. He received his Ph.D. in Scandinavian Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and his M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Georgia.
As of 2020 he is a full-time public educator. For eight years he was full-time faculty in Scandinavian Studies, teaching courses in Norse language, myth, and sagas, at UCLA (2011-14), UC Berkeley (2015-17), and the University of Colorado (2017-20). He divides his time between the Rocky Mountains of central Colorado and the Wind River and Big Horn ranges of Wyoming.
In recent years, he has been an Old Norse language and runes consultant on major multimedia projects such as Ubisoft Montréal’s Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Disney’s Frozen.
