Dr. Colin Shelton

Episode 45: Dr. Colin Shelton

Colin Shelton is Language Program Coordinator for Latin and Ancient Greek. His scholarly work applies insights from Second Language Acquisition to the teaching and learning of ancient languages. He has also published about ancient Roman etymologizing, and the semantics of Latin wordplay. Current projects focus on developing teaching materials to promote extensive reading in Latin and Ancient Greek, and to help ancient language teachers incorporate communicative approaches and multiliteracies teaching more easily into their repertoire. In addition to helping Classics graduate students develop their teaching, he has advised teachers in K-12 settings, and collaborated on teaching projects with scholars of Hebrew, Sanskrit, Literary Chinese, and Ottoman Turkish.
