Dr. Verity Platt

Verity Platt is Chair of Classics at Cornell University, where she is a professor of Classics and History of Art and co-curator of the Cornell Cast Collection. She is the author of Facing the Gods: Epiphany and Representation in Graeco-Roman Art, Literature, and Religion (Cambridge 2011) and Imprint and Line: Making and Mediating between Classical Art and Text (Oxford, forthcoming) as well as articles on classical art, religion, and historiography. With David Nasca, she recently curated The Sculpture Shoppe, an exhibition of casts and responses to classical sculpture by contemporary artists in the Ithaca shopping mall.
